Pico  is the first of a new generation of aesthetic lasers that don’t rely solely on heat to burn or melt away unwanted tattoo ink or melanin, the pigment that causes dark spots in your skin. Instead of building up heat, Pico delivers energy so rapidly (in trillionths of a second) that tiny particles that make up pigment and tattoo ink vibrate and shatter, without burning surrounding tissue. Less heat means less tissue damage and discomfort.

The 500ps pulse width of the PicoIris laser is only 1/100 of that of the traditional nanosecond laser(eg. Q-switched laser). The much faster speed of the PicoIris results in faster removal, with less pain and faster healing/ recovery time.

Only when the pulse width reaches a certain level (<800ps) will the above effect be achieved. Compared to the photo-thermal (heat), Photomechanical Effect will select the target more accurately, while causing less damage to the skin, which means recovery time is shorter (shorter between sessions) and treatment experience is more comfortable.
