Aesthetic Device Financing: The Right Option for Your Clinic

Very few clinics pay for their diode laser, HIFU, or body-contouring device directly from cash flow. Hire purchase and leasing are the two dominant forms of financing – both have very different tax and economic consequences.

An Overview of the Three Variants

Depending on your clinic setup and tax situation, the optimal financing variant can vary significantly.

    • Hire Purchase – Ownership remains with the bank, transferring after the final installment; must be capitalized as an asset.
    • Leasing – The device remains with the lessor; installments are fully deductible as operating expenses.
    • Purchase – Highest financial burden in year 1, but allows for full depreciation and immediate ownership.

    Sample Calculations

Example: Triple-Wavelength Diode Laser at 22,000 EUR, 60-month hire purchase, effective interest rate 5.9%. Monthly installment approx. 425 EUR. With 18 treatments per week at 90 EUR each, the device pays for itself economically after approx. 14 months.
