How a diode laser works
Six aspects that explain the technology without marketing shortcuts.
Selective absorption
Laser light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and converted into heat. Surrounding tissue stays comparatively unaffected when parameters are chosen correctly.
Wavelength
The wavelength determines penetration depth and absorption behaviour. Which wavelengths a specific system provides is listed on its device page.
Pulse duration
Pulse duration decides how the energy is delivered over time — a central parameter for comfort and effectiveness.
Cooling
Contact cooling protects the epidermis and makes longer sessions tolerable for the client.
Hair cycle
Only hair in the active growth phase reacts. This is why treatments are planned as a series, not as a single session.
Skin types
Suitability depends on skin type and hair structure. Assessment happens during consultation, never as a blanket promise.

What training is required?
Operators are trained at the Alix Academy. In Germany, NiSV requirements apply — we explain these in the German knowledge section.
