    Hair removal systems

Diode laser and SHR systems for permanent hair removal across skin and hair types.

For most studios, professional laser hair removal is the core service: predictable treatment slots, repeat appointments across several sessions and demand that stays largely independent of the season. What decides profitability is rarely the purchase price — it is how many skin and hair types a system covers reliably, and how comfortable the treatment feels for your clients.

How professional laser hair removal works

Laser light is absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft and converted into heat, which reaches the hair-forming structures inside the follicle. Because only hairs in the growth phase can be reached, several sessions a few weeks apart are required — the exact number depends on the body area, hair type and skin type.

A diode laser works with a defined wavelength and is therefore more targeted than a flash lamp. Systems with several wavelengths cover a broader range of skin and hair types because different penetration depths can be combined. The wavelengths a specific ALIX system provides are listed in the technical data on that system's page.

What matters when choosing a system

Do not compare systems on power figures alone. In daily studio operation, cooling, handpiece weight, spot size, treatment speed and serviceability usually matter more.

    • Skin and hair types covered – is one wavelength enough, or do you need several?
    • Cooling concept, because it directly determines treatment comfort
    • Treatment time per zone – it defines how many appointments a day are realistic
    • Handpiece ergonomics during long treatment days
    • Service, spare parts and training – downtime costs more than any instalment

    Buying, renting or financing

Whether purchase or financing makes more sense depends on your utilisation plan. Our financing and ROI calculators let you compare both routes with your own numbers before you commit to a system. Concrete terms and availability are clarified in a consultation, depending on the system you choose.

Which studios benefit from starting here

For newly founded studios, hair removal is often the first service that produces reliable utilisation. Established beauty institutes use it as an entry point into further device-based treatments such as skin or body programmes. Operators in Germany also have to observe the NiSV proof of expertise; we prepare you for this as part of the device introduction.

    Frequently asked questions

How many sessions are usual for permanent hair removal?
In practice several sessions are planned a few weeks apart, because only hairs in the growth phase can be reached. The exact number depends on the area, hair type and skin type and is defined individually in the treatment protocol.
Diode laser or IPL – what makes more sense for a studio?
A diode laser works with a defined wavelength and is therefore more targeted, while IPL/SHR covers a broader light spectrum. Which technology fits better depends on your client base; our comparison article covers the differences in detail.
Do I need training for laser hair removal?
Yes. In Germany the NiSV with proof of expertise applies. Every system includes an introduction, and the Alix Academy offers additional training.
